Driver loses job after causing 3-vehicle crash in Oregon

On Behalf of Usera & Snow, P. C. | Dec 4, 2018 | Truck Accidents

Crashes can happen anywhere, and they have the potential to cause significant harm to those involved. Take, for example, the news report posted on Nov. 21 about a tow-truck driver who was cited for rear-ending another vehicle.

The driver was cited for careless driving after causing a three-vehicle collision. All three drivers had to be taken to the hospital, though none had life-threatening injuries.

Deputies in Deschutes stated that they responded to the scene alongside the Bend Fire Department at around 1:15 p.m. They found that the driver had caused a collision near the intersection of Garcia road and Deschutes Market Road.

When looking into the cause of the crash, it was discovered that a 60-year-old man had been heading north and stopped his vehicle, an SUV, to make a left-hand turn into his driveway. That’s when a Ford tow truck collided with the vehicle. The driver was a 24-year-old woman.

After being struck, the SUV was pushed into the path of another SUV driven by a 48-year-old woman. She was unable to stop before colliding with the first driver’s vehicle.

The 48-year-old woman had two passengers with her, but neither was hurt in the crash, fortunately. The company the 24-year-old driver was working for, Epic Towing, issued a statement that the driver was terminated from her position following the collision.

Crashes like this affect multiple people, and they’re unacceptable. It’s always important for drivers of trucks to be paying attention and for them to avoid causing crashes due to following too closely, texting and driving or other mistakes behind the wheel.
